Leaking in the saddle
Have you ever been so scared when your horse spooks that your bladder leaks a bit? Or maybe you found that after that last fall, your bladder let loose when you hit the ground? I have.
I didn’t want to write this blog post, however, despite my embarrassment and how uncomfortable it is for me to talk about, I feel it is a common problem that should be addressed.
Urine can leak when you exert pressure on your bladder, which tends to happen when you are scared or fall off your horse. It’s called Stress incontinence. Whether it’s a drop or a few ounces, it’s no fun riding the rest of your ride in wet undergarments.
After my debate and telling myself it was ok, I bought some Thinx air hip hugger underwear (Around $25.00 each).
There are size inclusive, stretchy, breathable, with just enough padding. No one knows I am wearing them because the padding isn’t huge so there isn’t an outline when I wear them in my riding tights.
Also they don’t rub so I don’t end up with painful rashes or skin being rubbed off after I ride.
I wear them every time I go riding so if a leak happens, I don’t have to be embarrassed and I can finish out my ride in comfort.
